The story of Henry Scholten:

The Scholten name has always been synonymous with fine jewellery.
My grandfather, Heinrich, was a goldsmith and ran his own business in Essen, Germany for many years before his son, my father eventually took over.

My grandfather trained his four sons as goldsmiths and watchmakers and insisted that they gain their experience by working for other jewellers.

After I completed my apprenticeship in watchmaking, I started and completed my gold and silversmith apprenticeship.

In 1966, I opened my first shop in West Berlin when I was 22. Three years later I opened a second store.

When my family and I decided to emigrate to Australia, we chose the Central Coast as the place we wanted to settle.

After a year of manufacturing and wholesaling to other jewellers, we opened our first store in Bateau Bay in 1988. Then, in 1993 we opened in Gosford, in 1996 in Erina Fair and in 2002 in Tuggerah. Now, as in the past, we have always had our own fully equipped workshops and do all our work on the premises.

These days my daughers, Heike and Nicola also work in the family business and you can find them in the Erina store. I spend most of my time in Erina, but make a point of also being available to my Tuggerah customers every day except Sundays.

I still love making jewellery today as much as I did when I started out 47 years ago. The joy I see in my customers faces when I give them jewellery that I have hand-crafted for a very special occasion is something I will never grow tired of
